Classes in three Odessa universities – the Mechnikov National University, the Law Academy and the Academy of Food Technologies – were canceled until the spring. The institutions have no money to pay for the heating of the academic buildings, reports 048.ua.
According to teachers and students, universities were open until the end of December, but on January 1, all were released home. The institutions announced that the classes will not be until at least February 26.
In addition to heating, there were difficulties with the light: from the new year in Ukraine standards for the quality of lighting in the classrooms began to operate, but not all schools can afford to renew the lamps.
As the newspaper notes, in the same situation were most of the universities of Odessa.
In the regional department of education and science, the portal was informed that all institutions are independent, therefore, the rectors themselves decide how to organize the educational process.
