Lethal weapons, which Ukraine will receive from the United States, will be stored away from the firing positions of the APU in the Donbass, the newspaper The Wall Street Journal reports.
According to this publication, weapons complexes will arrive at the locations of the deployment of US military personnel. Today their base is in the west of Ukraine, however in the long term the location can be moved closer to the central regions of the country.
The US fears that weapons can “fall into the hands of the enemy,” therefore during training lethal weapons will be constantly under the control of the American side, the newspaper adds.
Earlier, the Ukrainian foreign minister said that the weapons that Washington would provide to Kiev would be used “only in case of provocation”, but not to escalate the conflict in the Donbass. The state department said that the decision to supply was made “to ensure the protection and territorial integrity” of Ukraine.
Russia repeatedly warned against plans to supply weapons to Ukraine, as this will lead to an escalation of the conflict. This step was opposed by most European politicians. Thus, the former Foreign Minister, now German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, called the arms deliveries “a very risky and counterproductive way” to overcome the crisis, RIA Novosti reported.
